Alan Kelly must apologise for publicly humiliating Tipperary ETB – Mattie McGrath TD

Independent TD Mattie McGrath has called on Labour Party TD, Alan Kelly, to publicly apologise for what has been described as Deputy Kelly’s ‘deliberate and pathetic attack’ on senior staff in the Tipperary branch of the Education and Training Board. Deputy McGrath was speaking as concern continues to mount that Deputy Kelly pursued the staff at the ETB following his failure to have the ETB office transferred to Nenagh, County Tipperary:

“There is significant disquiet within Tipperary at the actions of Deputy Alan Kelly with respect to this matter. He has submitted dozens of parliamentary question’s seeking information on staff pay, overtime, and other issues relating to the governance and management of the Tipp ETB with the clear intimation that it was engaged in less than honourable practices.

All of that has come to absolutely nothing and Deputy Kelly’s real agenda has been laid bare; which was to make the current senior management within the ETB suffer public embarrassment because it dared to defy or resist his attempts at a transfer of the main offices.

Serious questions must now be asked around his behaviour and motivation regarding this matter.

For a public representative who has publicly preened himself regarding his desire to see accountability within the Department of Justice, it is now high time he turned some of that commitment to transparency back on his own actions. Deputy Kelly must now come clean about why he pursued the Tipperary ETB apparently for no other reason but to humiliate them,” concluded Deputy McGrath.
