Lonergan Congratulates Tidy Schools, 2017 Awardees

Local Independent Councillor for the Clonmel\Cahir Borough District, Martin Lonergan has extended his congratulations to the winning schools in this year’s Tipperary County Council Tidy Schools Competition for the Clonmel/Cahir Borough District.

The Schools which achieved results in this year’s competition in the Borough Area were: 1st Place – Scoil Mhuire, Kilsheelan, 2nd Place – Burncourt National School, 3rd Place – St Olivers, Clonmel, 4th Place Grange National School.

Other awardees include Scoil Mhuire, Newcastle for the Best Wildlife Garden, Ardfinnan NS for their Best Waste Project, St Mary’s Clogheen for their Best Travel Project and most consistent schools were Ballydrehid and Lisronagh National Schools.

Commenting on the results Cllr. Lonergan said,

“Schools were visited and judged with regard to their litter management policy, litter awareness, tidiness of their school grounds and the schools overall appreciation of the environment.

The Tidy Schools Competition encourages Primary Schools in Tipperary to battle for the title of Tidiest School in Tipperary. The main emphasis of the competition is on litter awareness, waste management and on appreciation of our general environment. The Schools which achieved recognition in the Borough District should be proud of their achievements and I want to particularly congratulate the pupils and staff in the Schools for promoting this initiative each year.”
