First Performance of a new play by Rosanna Purcell from Littleton, Thurles.
The play follows Louise Fennessy, just one of 89 Transition year girls in her year, in St. Catherine’s Convent Secondary School which hosts 742 female students in total. Through her we encounter the nature of this powder keg environment in a culture where organized fights provide the on-site entertainment and the roughest of reputations instills respect.
Roseanna is from Littleton, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, growing up she had a keen interest in creativity and the stage, taking part in any musical, Irish dancing or speech and drama class. Her parents encouraged all creativity, particularly her mother Margaret McCormack who is a prominent member of Thurles Drama Group. Roseanna is a graduate of The Gaiety School of Acting’s full time actor training programme. She is a receiver of The Gaiety Theatre Bursary award. Roseanna graduated from UCC with a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies + English, during which time she won Best Supporting Actress at The Irish Student Drama Awards for her role in Marina Carr’s On
