Franklin Covey 7 Habits For Highly Effective Managers

Limerick Chamber Skillnet have organised a 7 Habits for Managers 2 Day Training Programme with Franklin Covey on Thursday 18th May and Friday 19th May in the Castletroy Park Hotel.

Anne Morris, Limerick Chamber Skillnet Manager, said “successfully leading a team takes a unique and different skillset than those of an individual contributor. It’s hard to be a good boss! The 7 Habits for Managers is built on the framework of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Each Habit has been uniquely retooled to focus on managing oneself and leading others. This two-day course is something which will interest anyone who is either trying to climb to top of the business ladder or is at top and seeking to improve themselves.”

It is commonly accepted that front-line managers can have the single largest impact on an organisation. A good manager affects employee performance and satisfaction; positively impacts productivity, efficiency, turnover, and improves the overall health of any organisation. If your company is in business to make a profit, it goes without saying that investing in training is a smart move. Whether leaders have been in their roles for some time, are brand new, or are emerging leaders, this programme will enable them to effectively lead and manage their teams.

Good management doesn’t just happen. Managers don’t inherently know how to handle delicate personnel issues or even how to effectively motivate employees. Additionally, capable and effective managers have to be trained to stay current on the latest updates in employment laws, workplace safety requirements and a host of other trends.

A recent survey by Progressive Business Publications shows that only 52% of companies trained their managers once a year or less. This lack of training is reflected in the Conference Board Report which found that less than 1/3 of all supervisors or managers were perceived to be strong leaders – which means that over 2/3 of them are perceived as being weak leaders. It can be easy to get overwhelmed by the challenge you face, but think of it as a marathon – not a sprint. Your training needs will not be resolved overnight. In fact, one of the secrets to adult learning is the process of consistently giving meaningful and experiential training, over a period of time. In other words, statistics show that behaviour is changed through repetition over time.
