Theatre And Treats Showcase With Fracture Youth Theatre In Thurles

Celebrating eighteen years at the heart of the Thurles community, Fracture Youth Theatre invites you to their upcoming showcase on Saturday the 18th of February. An evening of Theatre and Treats for all the family,  there will be performances from past members and current members with the token trip down memory lane and some stories, experiences and short performances from past productions.

The showcase is part of the Open Week in which the National Association for Youth Drama will after nearly 40 years, re-launch as Youth Theatre Ireland.  Fracture Youth Theatre is a member of Youth Theatre Ireland, which is the national development organisation for youth theatre. With 55 affiliated youth theatres in 24 counties, they support an incredible network of youth theatres offering year-round drama workshops and performance opportunities to young people aged 12 – 21 from cities, towns and villages across Ireland.  Over  2,700 young people are involved and over 4,000 hours of drama activities take place across the country each year.

With 80% of all youth theatres existing outside of major cities and urban areas, they are the creative lifeblood for the youth in many communities like Thurles, helping to develop their artistic, personal and social dimensions. As well as gaining increased theatre skills and appreciation of theatre and the arts, young people who participate in youth theatre report wider benefits for their overall well-being, including increased levels of happiness, confidence and self-esteem, a sense of belonging and improved abilities to articulate and express feelings and opinions.

Fracture Youth Theatre is supported by Tipperary County Council and The Arts Council.

The Fracture showcase is a free family event for all the family and takes place at 7.00p.m. on Saturday 18th February in the Gallery Space at The Source Arts Centre, Thurles Co. Tipperary. Former members and those interested in joining the Youth Theatre are especially welcome.
