Thurles Swing Dance Scene Wrap Up For 2016

As 2016 comes to an end, members of Thurles Swing Dance Scene group have thoroughly enjoyed learning new steps, meeting new people and having a lot of laughs along the way. We have been meeting every Monday night since October in The Source Arts Centre community space and numbers have grown by the week as new people young and old dip their toes into the dance scene that is enjoying a huge revival up and down the country as well as across Europe and beyond.

For those of you who may not be familiar with it, Swing is a wide family of dances incorporating many related (though sometimes only loosely) dances from Lindy Hop to East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing to Boogie Woogie, Balboa to Shag, and from Rock ‘n’ Roll to Jive.

Swing dancing is fantastic for people of all ages and abilities to get involved: an opportunity to meet like-minded people and make new friends, a chance to learn something new and have great fun doing it! Little wonder it’s shown to have a very positive effect on your mental well being.
Thurles Swing Dance Scene classes have wrapped up for 2016 and will resume in the New Year on Monday 23rd January at 7pm in The Source Arts Centre community space. The group welcomes new people to come along and try a bit of Lindy Hop, meet new people and have a lot of ‘craic’ doing it! No experience or commitment necessary, it is a drop in class. €10 per class/€5 for students
