Expansion Plans At Tipperary Energy Agency

In response to increased demands for its services, Tipperary Energy Agency, a social enterprise specialising in sustainable energy consultancy, building services and community energy, has opened a second office in Nenagh. The agency, which has been headquartered in Cahir since 1998, is also planning to grow its team significantly in 2017.

One of the contributing factors to the agency’s continued success is the SuperHomes Ireland project.  SuperHomes is a ground breaking project designed to retrofit homes to an ‘A’ BER rating (Building Energy Rating). The agency piloted the project in 2015, where homeowners could get up to 40% funding to retrofit their homes. The plans are ambitious for 2017, with a target of 100 homes to be completed.

Recently the agency has also worked on some significant Better Energy Community Projects (funded by Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) including St. Oliver Plunkett Primary School in Clonmel.

The agency helped the school secure a grant to improve the energy efficiency of the building. Extensive works were carried out including; attic/wall insulation, lighting upgrade, upgrade heating controls and replacing all external windows and doors.  Schools, SME’s, community groups and nursing homes have also the opportunity to access this funding in 2017 and should get in touch with Tipperary Energy Agency today.

Paul Kenny, CEO Tipperary Energy Agency said “This is an exciting time for us. With new project work coming in all the time, we’re always on the lookout for talented people to join our team. We are in the process of recruiting 3 engineers at present which will bring our team to 17.  We foresee more opportunities at the agency in 2017. Tipperary is a great place to live and work and we’re delighted to have a great team in Cahir and Nenagh”.
