It’s been a very busy few weeks for Devilsbit Macra na Feirme!

Dairy Farm Walk in Dwyers: Our Devilsbit Macra Young Farmers Group recently attended a Farm Walk hosted by Jim, Grainne & Jonathon Dwyer in Moneymore, Co Laois. There was a huge turnout and it ws a very informative and interesting farm walk. Sincere thanks to the Dwyers who were fantastic hosts.

Impromptu Public Speaking: Well done to Miriam Crone who won the North Tipperary round of Impromptu speaking held in Borrisloleigh 22nd October. Miriam also went forward to represent club and county at the Impromptu Semi Finals in Cork last Saturday. Well done, Miriam.

Stockjudging: Well done to our Club Secretary Helen Hayes who came fourth overall in the All Ireland final of Beef Stock Judging. This is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud. Well done, Helen.

North Tipperary Welding Competition: Well done also to Eamonn Joyce who will represent North Tipperary in the Welding Semi Finals. Eamonn is a fine representative for our club and we wish him the very best. Sincere thanks to Seamus Coonon of Clonmore, who very kindly facilitated and hosted the event. A fantastic evening had by all.

Agricultural Affair Committee: Our longstanding member Paudie Meade has been selected to sit on Macra’s National Agricultural Affairs Committee this year. This is a tremendous achievement for Paudie and we are very proud of him at club and county level. Paudie, along with other members of the Agricultural Affairs committee, recently met with some of the most senior politicians in Brussels, including the EU Commissioner for Agriculture Phil Hogan, on a range of issues relating to young Irish farmers. Well done, Paudie.

W.R Shaw Queen of the Land: Well done to Eimear Meagher who represented club and county at at the W.R Shaw Queen of the Land held in Tullamore. Eimear, who was up against 32 other Queens, represented her club and county in front of a packed audience in the Bridge House Hotel. A large contingent of Devilsbit Supporters travelled to support her and a fantastic weekend was had by all.

Wax, Shave or Dye: We are delighted to have hosted an extremely successful Wax Shave or Dye fundraising event in aid of St Anne’s Special School Roscrea last Saturday Night in Fitzpatrick’s in Clonmore. Well done to our members Conor O Dea, John Keane, Bill Bergin. Eamonn Joyce & Joe Maher, Thomas Quinn, Caoimhe Egan & Frank Hayes who bravely stepped up to the Wax, shave or dye challenge. Special thanks to Lisa Lewis for providng Beauty treatment on the night, Ailish O Brien for Hairdressing, John Hogan for MC and to Centenary Roscrea for the spot prizes. There was a fantastic turn out and it was a most enjoyable night.

Tractor Run: We had a fantastic turn out for our Tractor Run held Sunday 5th December in association with the Parents Council of St Annes Special School Roscrea. Many thanks to all who attended and contributed in anyway. It was a fantastic day out.

Games Night: Our weekly games night continues every Monday at 7.30 8.30pm in Clonmore Hall with our members partaking in a variety of games such as Badminton, Pool, Kaplunk, Jenga, Rummicube, Boggle (but to name a few!). There was a great turn out last Monday and we look forward to seeing everyone there again next week. Any new members who are interested in joining are also invited to come along.
