Two Tipperary ladies vying for victory in Miss Ireland 2016 tonight

Tonight is the 69th Miss Ireland Final where glitz and glamour meet poise and personality in Dublin’s Crowne Plaza Hotel at Northwood. The much-anticipated black-tie social event of the year will kick off with the Bloom Gin drinks reception from 5.30pm followed by the show and dinner from 7pm.

The winner of the much-coveted title will represent the country at the final of Miss World. This takes place in Washington DC on December 19th, with the lucky lady flying out in advance, onNovember 27th. She will also receive a lucrative modeling contract and a host of prizes including clothes, a professional photo shoot, and beauty products from official sponsors Bellamianta Luxury Tan, Vanity X Make-Up, Ceira Lambert Hair Extensions and So Amazing Fashions. So, sit tight for a hard-won fight for the famous crown.

Miss Tipperary 2016 Niamh KennedyThe two Tipperary contenders in tonight’s final are:-

Miss Tipperary Niamh Kennedy
Niamh is 20 years of age from Nenagh, Tipperary working as a waitress in Larkin’s Garrykennedy, she has been dancing ballet for 10 years. Niamh has recently signed to Celia Holman Lee Agency.


Miss Tipperary South Sinead Connery
Sinead is 22 years of age and is currently an intern Nurse in Cork University Hospital. She is a Fluent Irish speaker.

Celebrities Elaine Crowley of TV3 and stylist Brendan Marc Scully are hosting the show, while entertainment will be provided by singer-songwriter Karl Day. The afterparty is also shaping up to be a big one with Sisters of Sound at the helm. In a new feature of this glamourous national competition, the top six Miss Ireland talent finalists will also perform. In fact, this year sees a new fast track process with four contestants going into the top 15 under the headings of ‘sports’, ‘top model’, ‘social media’ and ‘talent’, along with a top eight placement for the winner of ‘beauty with a purpose’.

Miss Tipperary South Sinead ConneryThe 34 fabulous finalists, aged between 17 and 24, are representing the majority of Irish counties as well as RSVP,, Coyotes Bar and Hairitage Hair Salon. They hail from many walks of life, from being employed as a pharmacy technician, a GAA correspondent, and working on a family farm, to playing badminton for Ireland and being a session singer with a degree in jazz.

This year’s contestants will be hoping to show off their best traits in order to impress the formidable judging panel. Talent agent Julian Benson, Bellamianta’s Linda Mc Namee, stylist Sonja Mohlich, Miss Ireland competition organiser Sean Montague, model and former Miss Ireland Jessica Hayes, and fellow former winner Anne Marie Gannon are all waiting to be dazzled.

As the title sponsor, Bellamianta Luxury Tan is the luxury bronzing agent on everyone’s lips – and bodies. Leading up to the final, the Irish bombshells have endured a six-week-long schedule of events, including the Miss Ireland Sports Challenge in Sligo; the Cork Charity Fashion Show in Fota Island Resort, the Dublin Charity Fashion Show as part of the Dublin Fashion Festival, and finally, the Make-up and Beauty Masterclass at Vanity X in Swords.

Conceived in 1947, Miss Ireland is the longest running beauty pageant in the world and counts a host of famous faces among its previous title holders. Michelle Rocca came in as second runner-up at Miss International 1981; Siobhan McClafferty was first runner-up at Miss World 1990; Olivia Tracey got into the Top 10 at Miss Universe 1985; Andrea Roche achieved the same placement at Miss Universe 1998; Rosanna Davison represented Ireland at Miss World 2003; and Emma Waldron was placed in the Top 5 at Miss World 2010.

18 years of age from Ballymena, Co Antrim. She has just finished her A Levels and currently working in Starbucks while waiting to attend Queens to do Business studies.

19 year old Abigail has recently completed her leaving cert and works part time in the Dinn Ri, Carlow.
Miss Cavan Sorcha Farrell
21 years of age from Cormeen, Cavan. She is currently working as a beauty therapist and also works on the Family farm.
Miss Clare Lauren Guilfolye

23 years of age from Mallow in Cork. Orla is employed with City Wax Beauty, Body and Spa Therapist.

Miss Cork City Bailey Olliffe
21 years of age Bailey is a Student from Togher, Cork. She is currently also working as a part-time model with Pulse Models and as a Barperson. Bailey cancelled her 21st to take part in her selection

21 years of age from Mallow, Cork. Amy works part-time in ‘RED FM’ while studying in CIT and wants to be a personal trainer.

21 Year old from Galway City She is a former student of GMIT and represented by The Catwalk Modelling Agency where she appears on Ireland AM, RTE Today Show.

23 years of age Grainne is from Buncrana, Donegal. She is employed at Letterkenny University Hospital, on my final internship of general nursing.
