Exciting opportunity for volunteer training at Upper Limits in Upperchurch

Want to try something new? Upper Limits is Tipperary’s only indoor climbing wall and bouldering centre. The centre will be open three years this December and has been going from strength to strength with thousands of people trying their first indoor climb with us.

Climbing is becoming an extremely popular sport and will feature in the Toyko Olympics for the first time in 2020. Upper Limits is a not for profit community centre based in Upperchurch village. It is run solely with volunteers who have all been trained in climbing wall safety and supervision by Mountaineering Ireland. The centre is open every Wednesday & Thursday evening and Saturday mornings.

As Jim Ryan, Chairperson of Upper Limits explained “We have 18 trained supervisors who are doing amazing work helping to teach people to climb and have a fun experience on the wall. All of our supervisors are from Upperchurch with the exception of one from Two Mile Borris and one from overseas (a lady from France who was working in Thurles as an au pair). We’d love to have more volunteers to help out on the wall and are hoping to get another group of supervisors trained. The facility is a great asset to the county and we’d love more than just Upperchurch volunteers involved.”

So if you are interested in working in a great spot, getting amazing volunteer training, and doing something that puts a smile on every single person who comes through our door, we’d love to hear from you. If you want to find out more, call Upper Limits on 087 3919190 or call Jim on (087) 664 9466. We’re not looking for a big commitment but we’d love to hear from you if you’re interested.
