Waste disposal licences needed by smaller waste disposal companies – Morris

In the light of the announcement of the deferral of the pay by weight scheme for 1 year( possible more as the government face huge public revolt on this) I am asking Tipperary county council to facilitate licences for smaller waste disposal companies who have applied for licences but are being held up by the necessity to have pay by weight equipment on their smaller vehicles. The situation is that they are providing a very important service to us here in Tipperary for hundreds of households  by collecting rubbish by the bag  from people on lower wages and pensions (of which most people are nowadays)and also from people living in areas that cannot facilitate a larger truck . These waste collectors need to be part of the overall scheme of things until Tipperary county council provide a waiver scheme for pensioners , people on lower earnings and families with member needing sanitary nappies etc. . I am putting Tipperary council on warning that if we do not support smaller operators we are effectively taking them out of the equation and we will be paying the price for it here in Tipperary environmentally for decades to come.

Yours sincerely   Cllr. Séamie Morris M C C 22/06/16
