Tipperary Camogie

Liberty Insurance All Ireland Camogie Championship

Tipperary 1-10 Galway 1-13

Our senior team travelled to Athenry last saturday evening for the first round of the All Ireland championship against Galway on a miserable wet evening.

Galway were first to get the score board up and running with two point’s from play before Orla O’Dwyer registered Tipp’s first score with a nice point from play.

Shortly after that Nicole Walsh got Tipp’s next score but Galway hit back scoring three point’s without reply all from play , Jenny Grace got her first score of the evening and Nicole Walsh added another point leaving us trailing by one .

Galway kept the pressure on and got the next score and again Nicole Walsh got another point from the placed ball but then disaster for Tipp as Galway got in for a goal in the 28th minute but fair play to the girl’s they kept the Pressure on Galway and Nicole Walsh added another point but Galway replied almost instant with a point of their own and deep into injury time with a great ground strike Orla O’Dwyer raised the green flag for Tipp with a great goal leaving the score board reading at half time Tipp 1-06 Galway 1-07.

The second half started much the same as the first with Galway getting the first two score’s and throughout the half both side’s traded point’s  with Tipp’s  four point’s coming from Megan Ryan who got two good point’s from play and Nicole Walsh again adding the other two.

Unfortunately for the girl’s Galway finished the stronger and were less wasteful in front of goal’s and ran out winner’s on a score line of Tipp 1-10 Galway 1-13 , the girl’s would of been very disappointed with this result because this was a game we were well and truely in and had we of had a bit more luck on the day we may of snatched a win and with a trip to Derry next weekend Tipp can take the positive’s  from this game as the girl’s have proven that they are well capable of competiting with the top tier team’s and we wish them luck next weekend in their second round match against Derry.

Intermediate Championship Round 1

Best of luck to our Intermediate team next saturday as they take on Wexford in the first round of the championship in the camogie ground’s the Ragg and we hope to see a big crowd there to give the girl’s our support.

Feile na nGael

Very well done to all club’s that partisapated in the Feile na nGael last weekend and with a number of club’s reaching their respective final’s it was a fantastic weekend for Tipperary camogie as we had an opportunity to showcase the talent we have in the county.

We would also like to give a big thank’s to not only the mentor’s and player’s but also the parent’s that looked after travelling team’s over the weekend and to everyone else that volunteered and made the event such a success.

U12 A County Final

Cahir 7-06 Annacarty 1-04

Congratulation’s to the Cahir U12 camogie team who were crowned county champion’s last week in the camogie ground’s  on a very wet and miserable evening , it cant of been easy for both team’s to play in those condition’s but fair play to both side’s they gave us a great final and Cahir were deserving winner’s on the night , well done to all concerned.

U12 B County Final

Knockavilla 1-05 Roscrea 1-01

Congratulation’s to Knockavilla who were crowned B county champions last weeek in the Ragg again condition’s were very poor and it took extra time to seperate both side’s in this entertaining final and no doubt the future of Tipperary camogie is looking bright with the level of skill and determination shown by the player’s from both final’s , we are sure to see some of these young  ladie’s wearing the Blue & Gold in the not too distant future , well done to all.
