Thurles SportsFest Will Be Entertainment For All The Family

Come to Thurles this July and enjoy some fun and entertainment for all the family. Thurles SportsFest is indeed about sport but it is also about so much more!!There is sport, music and craic for all, with many free events all running from the 1st to 9th July.
 .
The following events are taking place during the festival:
 .
A 1916 Parade to a Hurling All-Ireland Re-enactment with the teams in costumes of the era and using hurleys of the period as well as the Family Fun Cycle which is 10k with all competitor standards welcome.

The Ale Trail Begins with each premises serving a number of local craft beers with local food and live music!! Road Bowling – a fascinating mixture of strength, strategy and precision, Indoor Bowls which is also a very skilful game and Ladies Football 7 a side with eight teams vying for the Enda McDonnell Cup.

Also being held is a Camogie Tournament for the Helen O’Meara Cup and the Thurles Gaels Junior Hurling Competition. A Fun Run for All covering 6km, Under 18 Girls’ Tag Rugby and Adult Ladies’ Tag Rugby as well as Under 18 Girls’ Seven a Side and Adult Ladies’ Seven a Side Tournament will take place.

An amazing display of stunt kite flying and model aeroplanes will be held by Mick the Kite Juggler, as well as a talk on mental health and sport and a pony summer camp for the more equestrian minded people. For the same people there is Polocrosse and then a Rock it Boot Camp for the more energetic.

The Peak Villa Soccer tournament will be held on 7th July along with Scor Bowls for Special Needs, National Weighlifting Chamionships and a Garth Brooks Tribute band on the 9th July. The Ale trail ends at the end of the Festival on 10th July.
