Prime Opportunity to focus on rejuvenation and enhancing Clonmel Town – Cllr. Martin Lonergan

Individuals, Groups and Organisations with an interest in enhancing Clonmel are invited to attend a public meeting on the Wednesday 11th of May at 7.30pm in the Borough District Chambers, Parnell Street, Clonmel.

Commenting on the meeting Cllr. Lonergan stated, “the objective of the meeting is to present an Action Plan developed by Consultants for Tipperary County Council to create a more vibrant, commercially successful and attractive retail town. I would encourage all stake holders to come along and get involved in the work of delivering the plan which was outlined to us as Elected Members at our Borough District Meeting recently.

At the core of the action plan developed for the town is the importance attached to the town’s people, economy, heritage and physical features and also to the development of local partnerships to develop and implement considered and effective solutions.

Improved cooperation, partnership and organisation are key requirements for the implementation of the action plan devised for Clonmel.  The meeting will explore the delivery of the devised Action Plans whose purpose is to increase footfall and commercial activity in the town centre through a number of means including increased tourism & heritage activity, improved and augmented festivals and events, better co-operation between town centre stakeholders and their edge of town and out of town fellow business people; seeking opportunities for collaborative marketing and themed marketing initiatives and using every opportunity to promote Clonmel as a vibrant and attractive centre with a quality retail offering.”

Concluding Cllr Lonergan said, “we and all stakeholders in Clonmel now have opportune moment to discuss issues throughout the Town of Clonmel so that we can enhance our services and indeed encourage investment in the Town.”
