Exciting events to start 2014 at Nenagh Arts Centre!

FILM: RENOIR – THURSDAY 23RD JANUARY

 

Our first film this season ‘Renoir’ screens at Nenagh Arts Centre 8pm on 23rd January. A fantastic opportunity to learn about the life of French impressionist painter Pierre Auguste Renoir, the film tells the story of an ageing Renoir, who embarks on a late period of productivity in his painting life when a young girl arrives on his doorstep and becomes his model.

CONCERT: ANIMAL BEATS | FUTURISM | ONE SIMPLE WORD – SATURDAY 25TH JANUARY

 

Up and coming indie band ‘Animal Beats’ and local bands ‘Futurism’ and ‘One Simple Word’ will play an open format gig in the theatre, the bands will take to the floor at 8:30pm with an informal seating arrangement that challenges the standard format for music presentations.
Animal Beats are a Limerick/Dublin-based rock band with indie infusions. Active musicians in the Irish music scene, Animal Beats have gained a reputation in the as a high-energy, high-entertainment and high-talent rock band showcasing original technique and musicality.

PLAY: TOM CREAN ANTARCTIC EXPLORER – SUNDAY 16TH FEBRUARY

 

The intrepid Antarctic explorer and one of Ireland’s unsung heroes is brought to life in this dramatic and humorous solo performance by Aidan Dooley.

Crean’s story is a testament of human fortitude against all the elements of the Antarctic, his 36 mile, solitary trek to base camp during the Terra Nova expedition to rescue his comrades Teddy Evans and William Lashly has been described by Antarctic historians as “the finest feat of individual heroism from the entire age of exploration”.
