North Tipperary LEADER Partnership are running a course on Foundation Guiding Training Programme with Failte Ireland. The course is for local people in the Slieve Felim area who want to learn more where they live with the potential of delivery of informal or structured tours in the future. There will be an introductory night on Wednesday 11th December 2013 in Killoscully Community Hall, Killoscully from 6:30pm – 8pm. We will be signing people up for the course on this night, and would like to invite interested people along.

The objective of the Programme is to provide skills to participants across the Slieve Felim area, to ensure that they have the required knowledge and competencies to enable them to promote the destination’s strong cultural and heritage offerings.

This is a foundation course to tour guiding; therefore further qualifications are necessary to become an accredited tour guide.

 

 

Trainer Bio – Vincent Butler

 

Vincent graduated from UCD with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Archaeology and Geography in 1980 and a Master of Arts degree in Archaeology in 1984. He has over 30 years of tour guiding experience and has been the lead National Tourist Guide trainer for Fáilte Ireland since 1991. Vincent has designed and coordinated 12 national tourist guides programmes, in addition to numerous local tourist guide programmes and contributes to Dublin City and Environs training sessions. Vincent designs and guides heritage based tour programmes throughout Ireland. Vincent is a senior expedition guide and lecturer with Lindblad Cruises and has travelled extensively on their ship, The National Geographic Explorer.
