Tipperary’s newest sporting facility named

The new climbing and bouldering gym in Upperchurch was recently named after a school competition held throughout October. Primary and secondary schools across the county Tipperary were invited to come up with an exciting name for the new facility and the centre was inundated with hundreds of entries. The team behind the wall were amazed at the quality of names submitted and it took considerable time to choose the best name. The new facility has now been named ‘Upper Limits’ – as it reflects Upperchurch (being a bit on the Upper side!) and the climbing as well as showcasing the experience that can be had by all at the climbing wall. The team in Upperchurch are delighted with the new name and want to say a big thank you to the hundreds of children who submitted brilliant names.

It is often the case that great minds think alike and so it was with the winning name. The name ‘Upper Limits’ was actually submitted three times by primary school students (Eimear Carey 4th class from Rearcross National School, Louis Coughlan 2nd class from Mochaomhog Naofa, Two Mile Borris and Conor Carven 5th class from Templederry National School) and the team at Upper Limits were delighted to award the prize to all 3 winners (each winning a 2 hour climbing session for themselves and 5 friends).

The winning entry from a secondary school pupil was Jessica Ryan from Naomh Íde, Loreto Secondary school in Clonmel who was also awarded a 2 hour indoor climbing session for themselves and 5 friends.

The team at Upper Limits are looking forward to welcoming Eimear, Louis, Conor, Jessica and their friends in the coming months to Upper Limits in Upperchurch. Upper Limits now has a Facebook page (Upper Limits Climbing) so please give it a like and keep up to date on what’s happening in Upper Limits, the newest sports and tourism facility in Tipperary.
