Our Last Chieftain – O’Sullivan Beara at The Source Thurles

The last Rebel left standing against the Crown after the Battle of Kinsale.

Award winning creator and star of Tom Crean Antartic Explorer, Aidan Dooley returns to the stage at The Source Arts Centre on Saturday 07 September to perform in Our Last Chieftain – O’Sullivan Beara, a historical account of the last Chieftain left standing in Kinsale against Queen Elizabeth. We like our heroes tragic and using Celtic myths, an original score and brilliant storytelling, Aidan tells the true tale of how this heroic leader of the Beara people tried valiantly to save his Clan against the vicious onslaught of the angry Tudor Queen intent on ensuring Ireland would never aid the Spanish again and in doing, destroys the last Celtic embers of Gaelic Ireland.

O’Sullivan Beara was a magnificent scalding blast of storytelling

A rallying cry for survival, a cry for vengance, a cry for our poor blighted country, and a glorious shout to stand up and fight, fight for survival, fight for your good name. Wonderful stuff.  The Munster Express

Why not come early and make a night of it, the Source Café and Bar are open from 7pm
