Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C.

The Club enjoyed great success with the 14 athletes that took part in the County U/13 to U/19 T & F Championships in Templemore Track on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th May. Adam O’Dwyer, Shane Burke, Liam McDonagh, Jack Fallon, Sean Mockler, Ben O’Dwyer, David Ryan, Daniel Ryan, Declan Ryan, Kieren Hennessy, Anna Ryan, Clodagh Fallon, Eimear Ryan & Ciara Mockler put in some terrific performances to win 35 individual medals in total (19 gold, 10 silver & 6 bronze) & place the Club as the 3rd best overall in the County behind Nenagh Olympic A.C. & Carrick-On-Suir A.C. The Boys U/15 4 x 100m Relay team of Declan Ryan, Sean Mockler, Ben O’Dwyer & Jack Fallon also won gold. The Club recorded strong performances in the Boys U/14 Shot Putt & Discus when David Ryan, Sean Mockler & Jack Fallon occupied the top 3 places in both events with brothers Daniel & David Ryan taking County titles in the Boys U/14 & U/15 Hurdles races, 200m, Long Jump, Shot Putt & Discus & brother & sister Sean & Ciara Mockler both winning gold in the Boys U/14 & Girls U/17 Javelin competitions.

On Day 1, Shane Burke won gold in the Boys U/13 80m, Jack Fallon won gold in the Boys U/14 800m, Sean Mockler won the Boys U/14 Javelin while his sister Ciara took double gold in the Girls U/17 Discus & Javelin. On Day 2, Anna Ryan won silver in the Girls U/12 Turbo Javelin with Adam O’Dwyer winning silver in the Boys U/12 600m. David Ryan won gold in the Boys U/14 75m Hurdles, 200m, Long Jump, Shot Putt & Discus & Silver in the High Jump, Daniel Ryan won gold in the Boys U/15 80m Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Putt, 200m & Discus. Declan Ryan won gold in the Boys U/15 Hammer & silver in the 200m, Long Jump, High Jump & Jack Fallon was 2nd in the Boys U/14 200m & Hammer, 3rd in the Shot Putt, Long Jump, High Jump & Discus. Sean Mockler won the Boys U/14 Hammer & was 2nd in the Boys U/14 Shot Putt & Discus, Kieren Hennessy was 3rd in Boys U/17 3000m & Ciara Mockler won gold in the Girls U/17 Shot Putt & bronze in the Hammer.

Clodagh Fallon (Girls U/13 600m & LJ) , Liam McDonagh (4th Boys U/13 Javelin), Ben O’Dwyer (4th in the Boys U/14 Hammer & 6th in Discus) & Eimear Ryan (7th in Girls U/15 Long Jump & 4th in 100m) all competed very well in their events but were just outside the medals on the day. Congratulations & well done to all our athletes.

Well done to Declan Ryan, Daniel Ryan & Kieren Hennessy who all represented Thurles CBS at the East Munster Schools Boys Track & Field Championships on Wednesday 8th May in Templemore Track. Declan won bronze in the Junior Boys Long Jump with a jump of 4.58m, Daniel won the Junior Boys 80m Hurdles & Long Jump & also set a new Schools record in the Long Jump with his jump of 6.11m to break the existing 1996 record of 5.85m held by Richie Phelan, Carrick C.B.S. & Kieren won Silver in the 1500m Steeplechase. They will now go forward to represent their school at the AVIVA Munster Schools Track & Field Championships in Cork I.T. on Saturday 18th May & we wish them the very best of luck. Good luck also to Ciara Mockler who will represent Presentation Convent, Thurles in the Intermediate Girls Shot Putt & Discus.

Moycarkey Borris Community Games Area Athletic Finals will be held in the Community Field, Two Mile Borris on Wednesday 22nd May 2013. Registration from 6.30pm with the first event starting at 7pm sharp. Events will be for U/8 to U/16 and all competitors must reside in the parish of Moycarkey Borris & be under the specified age as of the 31st JULY 2013 (ie. an U/8 athlete cannot be 8 on or before 31st July 2013).

Training for the forthcoming Outdoor Season will be held every Tuesday from 7pm to 8pm & Thursday from 6.45pm to 7.45pm in Templemore Track commencing on Tuesday 2nd April. New athletes & help always welcome. It is important that all athletes arrive on time & complete their warm up session to avoid injury. Contact Aidan Burke (086) 2428224 for more details about training. Cost per athlete is €2.00 for each training session. Adults who wish to use the facility are also subject to the same charge of €2.00 per session.  If  a family have paid the annual family membership to Templemore Track (100.00 euro) then there is no charge for the training session in Templemore Track.

New County Date

The County Juvenile “B” Track & Field Championships will be held on Saturday 22nd June at 11am in Templemore Track followed by the County Junior, Senior & Masters Track & Field Championships at the same venue at 1.30pm.

Wed 15th – High Jump Workshop for coaches & athletes aged 12+ from 7pm to 9pm in Clonmel.

Sat 18th – AVIVA Munster Schools T & F Championships in Cork I.T. at 9am.

Sun 19th – County Senior Road Championships at 12 noon in Fethard.

Tues 21st – Long Jump & Triple Jump Workshop in Templemore Track for athletes aged 12+ & coaches from 7pm to 9pm.

Wed 22nd – Moycarkey Borris Community Games Area Track & Field Finals.

Sun 26th – County U/9 to U/12 T & F Championships in Templemore Track.

Fri 24th to Sun 26th – National Community Games Finals in AIT, Athlone – Cross Country Relays.
