Carrick-on-Suir Top Hurdle Club In Munster Indoors

The recent Munster Juvenile Indoor Championships saw Carrick-on-Suir (ranked #7 nationally in 2012) come out on top ahead of Nenagh Olympic (ranked #2 nationally). Carrick-on-Suir had 8 medalists including 3 golds and were 9.5pts winners over Nenagh Olympic. Traditional hurdle strongholds Leevale and Ferrybank were 3rd and 4th while Belgooly justified their #14 National ranking by being 5th.

It was good to see clubs like Moycarkey and Ennis Track, recently not to the forefront in hurdles, show strongly and make the top 10.

Top 10 as follows:

#1 Carrick-on-Suir
#2 Nenagh Olympic
#3 Leevale
#4 Ferrybank
#5 Belgooly
=#6 Limerick
=#6 Old Abbey
#8 Moycarkey
#9 St Brendans
#10 Ennis Track

A very successful Sprints Workshop with some of Tipperary & Munster’s top athletes was held on Wednesday 27th February in Moyne Pavilion from 7pm to 9pm. Brilliant coaching was given by Shane McCormack  with the aid of one of his top athletes, David Hynes who is currently the fastest man in Ireland over 60m & 100m. Both gave great advice & demonstrations on sprint drills for speed & acceleration & core exercises over the course of the workshop.  Keep checking the “Fixtures” page at www.tipperaryathletics.com for more upcoming workshops.
