On Sunday July 15 Volunteers from Lough Derg RNLI Lifeboat Station had a major exercise that lasted from 2pm until 6pm.

Huge thanks to Angus Levy from Shannon Castle line cruise hire company, who very kindly made one of his cruisers available to the station for the exercise, and got involved himself. RNLI Crew Member Owen Cavanagh allowed us to use his yacht ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and taught crew about de-rigging a yacht under sail. Nick Theato, Treasurer to Lough Derg RNLI and the Nenagh brank of RNLI Fundraising, should be awarded an Oscar for his role as casualty for the exercise. Thanks also to Dr. Peter Hooker, Lifeboat Medical Advisor, who remained on the yacht and advised crew when necessary. Crew rotated roles throughout the exercise.  It was excellent training and hugely beneficial for all involved.
