“Morris deems the initial North Tipperary Sports Tourism Grant a huge success”

The North Tipperary sports tourism grant scheme which I initiated in Nenagh to huge success and exported to other councils in North Tipperary has proven to be very successful in its initial year in North Tipperary County Council and Thurles Town Council. The spread of events across the county has been impressive and shows the true spirit of social initiative which is alive and well here in North Tipperary. The Thurles international hurling festival was supported by the scheme from Thurles town council while North Tipperary County council supported The Tipperary Relay For Life event in Toomevara, Lough Derg Yacht Clubs Mirror Southern Sailing Championships in Dromineer, The Irish Wheelchair Association in Roscrea event which will spread out to Nenagh and Thurles, The Athletic Association of Ireland Tipperary County Board  Throws international between Switzerland and Ireland in Templemore and the Denis Keogh 7 a side Hurling and Camogie tournament in Cloughjordan. I am delighted that all these organisations availed of the Grant which has been so beneficial to promoting sports tourism in Tipperary. I congratulate these groups and I encourage more groups throughout Tipperary to come up with ideas for Sports Tourism next year which is deemed the Gathering year. If any group or organisation should have an idea please feel free to contact me for advice. Yours sincerely Cllr. Séamie Morris
