Templemore Track

Athletes inTipperaryare fortunate enough to have a state of the art track & facilities on their doorstep when they visit Templemore Track in the heart ofTemplemoreTownPark. Now that the long evenings are here, the track is packed to capacity with athletes young & old, Fit4Life, recreational & professional all eager to get fit, learn new events & skills, & train to set personal bests, break records & win medals.

Owned by Templemore A.C., the track is a very valuable training ground for athletes in the whole county & provides not only the track to train on but also 2 long /triple jumps, a high jump, shot putt area, hammer/discus cage & any equipment that any athlete could require (weight machines, mats, ladders, hurdles, shot putts, discus, javelins, hammers etc). It has been instrumental in helping the County to win numerous Track & Field Munster & National medals over the past few years. The track has hosted many County & Munster Championships, Community Games Finals & in 2010 & 2011, it hosted the National Juvenile Team Games. It is also used on a regular basis to run Coaching Workshops & training days.

Templemore Track has the potential to host future National Championships once the Pole Vault landing areas are in place. The cost of this equipment is €40,000 (including protective garage to store the mats) & Templemore A.C. is continuing to fundraise to generate this sum of money. Templemore A.C. undertook a major development plan in 2001. This included the replacement of the then athletic track with a state of the art Olympic Synthetic, eight lane running track with the most modern equipment available. That has now been fully completed with the addition of a Discus/Hammer cage last year . The Club has been granted planning permission for an extension to the present clubhouse, comprising a Committee room, Medical room, meeting/training hall, new toilets/showers & gymnasium.
