Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football Notes 11th March

Munster under 14 championship second round
Tipperary V Clare
Tipperarys under 14 team travelled to their lucky venue Lattin-Cullen GAA grounds to take on Clare in the second round of the Munster championship. For the second week in a row Tipperary had to field out without their inspirational captain Aoife Corcoran due to a serious hand injury. The team suffered another blow when Centre field player Aoife Hoctor had to leave the field before the ten minute mark. Aoibhe O Shea was first to score in the game with a point for Tipperary. Jean Kelly and Caoimhe Condon put Tipperary three points up before Clare responded with a goal for their first score. Jean Kelly tacked on her second point before Orla O Dwyer gave the home supporters plenty to cheer about with a well worked goal. Another point from play courtesy of Aoibhe O Shea before the half time whistle had the score at the break 1-6 Tipperary 1-3 Clare. As in the game against Limerick Sinead Buckley was outstanding at centre half back. Clare at the start of the second half put fierce pressure on the Tipperary backs which forced Tipperary’s management to spring the injured Aoife Corcoran from the bench. Injured or not Aoife gave an outstanding display of defending as well as scoring two fine points from play.Clares fighting spirit was quenched when Lara O Dwyer found the back of the Clare net. Further scores from Jean  Kelly Aoibhe O Shea and a pointed free from Sinead Buckley gave Tipperary another fine win on the score 2-11 to 2-6. Next game Tipperary away to Waterford on weekend 24/25 March. Bord Gais National League Div. 2 round 5 Tipperary V Clare.
Bansha was the venue for Tipperary V Clare round 5 of the national league Div. 2. Tipperary were off to a flying start with three unanswered points from Gillian O Brien before Clare got on the score board.Scors were plenty full for both sides in the first half Tipperary two goals coming from Shauna Ryan and a penalty scored by Jennifer Grant after Breda Feeny was fouled in the square. Half time score Clare 3-5 Tipperary 2-6.After a very competitive first half Tipperary supporters were expecting a ding dong battle for the second half. Unfortunately the Tipperary girls challenge faded very fast after the break. Roamers of Clare having been training very hard since November proved to be very true and there fitness blitzed Tipperary for the last quarter of the game. The scoring for the second half tells its own story Tipperary 0-4 Clare 2-8 to leave a full time score of 2-10 to 5-13. Tipperary will travel to take on Galway on Sunday 18th March in round 6. Three of our younger players showed up well in this game,Cliona O Dwyer returning from injury contributed two fine points Edit Carroll chipped in with two points from play and Shauna Ryan bagged her third goal of the league. Management can build on these positives going forward and have a strong unit in place for the championship.
