Morris deems 2012 to be his most successful for attracting sports tourist groups to Nenagh

With the year only 3 months old 2012 has already surpassed 2011 in terms of attracting Groups from the U S A and Canada. With the assistance of Irish Rugby tours North Tipperary County Council , Nenagh Town Council The Abbey Court Hotel and of course the local Sports clubs and the people of Nenagh we have entertained groups from Mystic River Rugby Club Boston , Rice University Houston, Shippensberg W R FU Pennsylvania , Delbarton High School Morristown, Okangan High School Canada and Ohio High School W R F U with a total of 681 bed nights between them.

There has been a great deal of imagination used to keep these groups happy on their stay here with new events added to their itinerary. Tipperary G A A  and Nenagh Eire Hurling and Camogie clubs have come up with a unique 1 hour Hurling experience which has gone down very well along with the touring groups. A tour of Tod McNamara’s farm in Kilcommon and Noel Buglers Fly fishing in Killaloe added to the wonderful scavenger hunt organised around Nenagh by Liam Reddan have made the trip to Nenagh a unique tourist experience . Delbarton High School took part in the St Patricks day parade which was the highlight of their trip.
Of course the extra effort shown to our visiting teams by Nenagh Ormond R F C and the Town Mayor Virginia O Dowd makes Nenagh a stand out destination for these groups. The media in America has picked up on the  joy and satisfaction of the groups who have visted Nenagh and have highly recommended our town to future visiting groups with many of the groups that have visited Nenagh promising to returm.
There is more groups booked in for April right up to June which will add much needed footfall to the town.  Nenagh is proving itself to be a very welcoming and popular destination for sports tourists now and into the future but we must not rest on our laurels and must strive to offer a unique tourist experience for our visitors.
