7 Munster Relays Titles for Tipperary
The Munster Juvenile Indoor Relays took place on Saturday 11th February in Nenagh Indoor Stadium. 3 Tipperary Clubs put in some fine performances winning 14 sets of medals between them. Nenagh Olympic A.C. came to the fore winning 5 gold, 3 silver & 3 bronze sets of medals & a CBP in the Girls U/13 while Carrick On-Suir A.C. won 2 gold & Templemore A.C. 1 Silver. The County Indoor Championships for athletes U/13 to Junior were held in Nenagh Indoor Stadium on Sunday 12th February.  Our thanks to all the Clubs who provided help on the day & to all our dedicated County Officials. A special presentation was made to Emby Walsh, Carrick-On-Suir A.C., our former County Indoor & Track & Field Secretary in recognition of all her years of service to the County. We thank her for her enormous contribution toCountyTipperary athletics & look forward to her continued support in the future.

With 30 County titles up for grabs in the Boys events, Nenagh Olympic A.C. came out on top with 8 titles, Carrick-On-Suir A.C. were 2nd with 7 titles, Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C., Templemore A.C. & Tipperary Town A.C. all won 4 each with Clonmel A.C. taking 2 titles & Newport A.C. 1 title. In the Relays, Carrick-On-Suir A.C. won 3 titles with Nenagh Olympic A.C. winning 1 title. 30 County titles were also up for decision in the Girls events with Nenagh Olympic A.C. winning the most with 10 titles, Carrick-On-Suir A.C. were in 2nd place with 7 titles while Newport A.C. & Clonmel A.C. shared 3 titles each. Borrisokane A.C. & Templemore A.C. both had 2 titles each with Moyne A.C., Tipperary Town A.C. & Dundrum A.C. winning 1 title each. In the Relays, Nenagh Olympic A.C. came out on top with 3 titles with Carrick-On-Suir A.C. winning 1. The Woodie’s DIY AAI Juvenile “B” Cross Country Championships took place on Sunday 5th February in Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle, Co. Roscommon. Tipperary athletes had a terrific day winning a total of 8 individual medals, 2 sets of Inter-Club medals both won by Moyne A.C. & 3 sets of Inter-County medals. The Munster Juvenile Indoor Championships take place over the next 2 weekends in Nenagh Indoor Stadium.  The Munster U/9 to U/13 Indoor Championships take place on Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th February starting at 11am on both days. The Munster U/14 to U/19 Indoor Championships take place on Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th March at 11am on both days. Order of Events for the 2 weekends can be found at www.tipperaryathletics.com together with the 2012 Munster Regulations. Car Parking details for both weekends are as follows:-

  1. NO Buses allowed to ENTER Nenagh Olympic A.C. Car Park. Once buses have dropped their passengers, they MUST park in the Railway Station Car Park. Parking for buses is free on weekends.
  2. Cars only to park in Nenagh Olympic A.C. Car Park. Ambulance area MUST be kept clear at ALL TIMES and Ambulance MUST have space to EXIT.
  3. Once Nenagh Olympic A.C. Car Park is full, cars can park in nearby Church Car Park (beside the Hospital) or in the Railway Station.
  4. NO PARKING in neighbouring Ballygraigue Estate, on any green areas or in the vicinity of driveways.

 

 

Sat 10th March – County U/9 to U/12 Indoor Championships in Nenagh Indoor Stadium at 12 noon. Order of Events can be found at www.tipperaryathletics.com.

Sat 10th March – Munster Squad Training Day No. 3 in UL, Limerick for athletes aged U/14 (born 1999) to U/20.

2 very successful Coaching Workshops for our Juvenile athletes took place in Moyne Pavilion in February. On Wednesday 8th, a Hurdles Workshop was given by National Coach, Chris Regan while on Wednesday 15th, National Coach, Shane McCormack gave a Sprints Workshop.  Both sessions were very informative & well attended by over 50 athletes & we would like to thank our County Development Officer, Marian Hughes for organising these events, Moyne A.C. for the use of their magnificent facility & to all the athletes, coaches & parents who attended the Workshops.

 

The next Workshop coming up in the County is set out below:-

Wed 29th Feb Strength & Conditioning Workshop at Dundrum AC 7-9pm with Cork based expert Mark McManus. Mark is a former international sprinter, currently works with the Cork Senior Hurlers and has worked with the Munster Rugby team also. Open to all athletes & coaches aged 14+. Simply come along on the night and pay €5 at registration between 6.30-6.55pm. The workshop starts at 7pm sharp so please can anyone attending try to be on time.

 

Community Games Cross Country Relays

The County Tipperary Community Games Trials for the Cross Country Relays will take place on Friday 23rd March at 7pm in Thurles Crokes Complex. Entries are on the night & races are for Girls & Boys U/13 1200m (first 5 boys & 5 girls over the line will represent the County), U/12 Boys & U/12 Girls 600m (the first 6 in each race will form the County Relay Panel with a team of 4 to run), U/14 Boys & U/14 Girls 600m (the first 6 in each race will form the County Relay Panel with a team of 4 to run). All competitors must be under the age specified on 31st July 2012. All finalists go forward to compete at Weekend 1 of the National Community Games Finals in AIT, Athlone on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May 2012.
