Aglish Old School Project

Well at this stage we are about 2 ½ months into our renovations of the Old School in Aglish. While the weather hasn’t always been favourable to our builder Ken Gleeson & the lads from Curraghamore Carpentry, they have made great progress. From finding a massive beehive in the hall way to re-roofing the school, they have done great work. Our electrician Eoin Reddan is well into the second fixing as is our plumber Stephen Brennan and as this piece is being written Mike Gavin from Tiger Tiles is busy getting the tiles up on the walls of our new bathrooms.

We have been both humbled and astounded by the generosity of so many people in the locality. From past pupils and people who have moved away from the village, to all those who have taken the time to contact us as a committee, to those who have written letters etc. a big heartfelt thanks from The Committee. To everyone who has given us the loan of photos & press cuttings & other memorabilia to do with the Old School / hall we are very grateful.

If anybody has any photos etc. that they are willing to give us the loan of so we can scan them & add to our collection please contact Olivia Horan on the number below or via email, once they are scanned they will be returned immediately.

Finally our “ Sponsor A Slate “ project is drawing to a close , to get your name or that of a family member on the scroll please make contact with any member of the committee as soon as possible, Edward Raleigh, Marcella Raleigh, Pat Hogan, Olivia Horan, Avril Murphy or Claire Starr. Late last year we wrote to as many past pupils and people from the village that we could get addresses for, if you have lost your letter or it simply didn’t arrive feel free to contact any of us & we will get a replacement to you a.s.a.p.

As we have to order the scroll we are putting a final date of 31st Jan 2012 to have names & donations in to any of the above members, feel free to contact us by Email: aglishvillagehall@gmail.com or call 086.0313786
