Three Beckett plays to be performed at Nenagh Arts Centre

The work of Ireland’s Nobel prize-winning playwright Samuel Beckett will be presented in three short plays at Nenagh Arts Centre next Tuesday, 7th February.

Following on from the success of showing three Beckett shorts last year, the Arts Centre in Banba Square brings three new plays that look at human destiny in terms of poignancy, compassion and the necessity of dignity in facing the inevitable. Performing ‘Rockabye’, ‘That Time’ and ‘Rough For Theatre 2’ are the Godot Company with Jim McManus, Aonghus McNamara and Colette Kelly.

A strong streak of Beckett humour is present in the conversational exchanges which depict human cruelty and human frailty in equal measures. Beckett’s humour has always been dark and somewhat mischievous and these plays follow that pattern.

The three Beckett works in the programme are approximately thirty minutes each and are different from those noted in the Spring Arts Centre brochure. Tickets are on sale from Nenagh Arts Centre on 067 34400 or online at  <http://www.nenagharts.com/> www.nenagharts.com. The show begins at 8 p.m. on Tuesday 7th February
