Willie O’Keeffe and Louise Morrissey on Glor Tire 2011

Willie O'Keeffe and Louise Morrissey

Well known musician and singer Willie O’Keeffe from Lisgoold Co Cork is appearing on TG4 Glor Tire 2011.

Willie was honoured when he was asked by his mentor Louise Morrissey to be her guest on the show.  The show will start on Wednesday 14th September 2011. (Check press for details of time).

Willie started playing music at 11 years of age in his father’s band.  In later years he got the opportunity to join Louise Morrissey’s Band as her drummer.  He played with the band for 8 years and it was there his singing talent came to notice where he sang a number of songs throughout the show.

Since leaving Louise’s Band, Willie has played with other well known artists such as Larry Cunningham, Paddy O’Brien, Trudi Lalor, Tom Healey to mention a few.

Willie is currently playing the dancing scene in the Munster area and tours the U.K playing the Irish Clubs. He is also the lead singer with a band called The Zodiacs who concentrate on the wedding scene in the Cork area.

To date Willie has recorded one album entitled “Blue Eyes” which has been very successful and also has released 3 singles in the last 6 months.  Willie is currently in the recording studio and will be releasing his new single “Hello Trouble” over the next few weeks.  The song will be available on all local radio stations for request.

Glor Tire has proved popular with country music lovers everywhere bringing an audience of 100,000 every Wednesday night.  This programme is a stepping stone to a singers career in the country music scene.  As the competition has a high standard of singers this year Willie is hoping you will give him your number 1 vote and make him your choice as this year’s winner of Glor Tire like fellow Cork man Patrick O’Sullivan in 2009.
