The monthly meeting of the North Tipperary Macra na Feirme Executive was held in Moyne Hall last Friday 16th September. Presentations were made by representatives of the Seandun “Rally” National Conference Committee about the upcoming conference to held in October this year and the jam-packed weekend planned. Also in attendance was the recently elected Munster Region vice-president of Macra, Tommy Moyles who outlined his plans for the forthcoming year. There was great revelry as Chair Tim Maher congratulated his Club “Devils Bit” on winning the county round of the “Know your Ag” quiz and thus go on to represent North Tipperary in the Finals.

Moyne/Templetouhy Macra Impromptu Debating Team - Martin Fogarty, Maggie O'Keeffe and Barth O'Keeffe

Following the Meeting in Moyne Hall, the exciting business of the evening got underway. The final of the county round of Impromptu Debating was an exciting affair with local rivals Devils Bit facing a veteran Moyne/Templetuohy side that were out to win on home turf. The teams were as follows: Moyne/Templetuohy – (Chair) Martin Fogarty, Barth O’Keeffe and Maggie O’Keeffe and the Devils Bit team of (Chair) Ger Fogarty, Marian Lee and Con McGrath. The team from devils bit got the debate underway as they proposed the contentious motion and despite their best efforts, the Moyne team was victorious and successfully defeated the motion. The Moyne/Templetuohy team will now go on to the national finals where they will no doubt represent North Tipperary with pride and distinction.

The North Tipperary executive would like to thank the Moyne club for hosting this prestigious event and also wishes their team every success going forward. We would also like to thank the Moyne hall committee for the use of the hall and its wonderful facilities.
