Nenagh win Munster Junior B camogie Final.
Nenagh Eire Og 2-05 Kilkishen (Clare) 3-0
Last Friday night Nenagh Eire Og Camogie club won their first Adult camogie silverware when they won the Munster Plate final in Mc Donagh park Nenagh last Friday night against Kilkishen of Clare.
Watched by a large crowd of supporters Nenagh took control of the game straight from the throw in launching attack after attack and smothering Kilkishen with great defensive play from the whole backline. Nenagh with Tipperary minor Cíara McGrath operating at full forward tormented the Kilkishen full back line and were rewarded with their early pressure with a well taken goal by Gemma Morris who waltzed through the Kilkishen defense and unleashed an unstoppable shot to the net to put Nenagh ahead. The midfield pairing of Aileen Duggan and Rebecca White cleaned up everything in their sector and used their dominance to feed the busy Nenagh forward line. The direct play of centre forward Danielle Harrington opened up Kilkishen several times in the first half. The only way that they could stop her was to foul her and one of the fouls led to a penalty which player of the Match and Tipperary u 16 star Aileen Duggan blasted to the net.  Further points from Niamh Costello0-1 and Aileen Duggan 0-2 put Nenagh ahead 2-04 to 0-0 at half time.
There was bound to be a kick left in Kilkishien and they came at Nenagh with determination in the second half scoring two early goals which put huge pressure on the home team. The management on the sideline of were up to the task making match winning changes by bringing Louise Hickey to Mid Field and putting Cíara McGrath in between the half back line and the full back line. Louise Hickey  played the game of her life  and she was involved in stemming the tide of Kilkishen attacks in the second half. The full back line of Donna Mitchell Alice Darcy and Claire Collins were outstanding all year and this game was no different where they closely marked the experienced Kilksihen full forward line.  Captain Mary Dillon was superb throughout  and she was aided by her half back colleagues Sarah Maher and Steffi Browne. Of course Goalkeeper Laura McKennas heroics was responsible for Nenagh reaching the Final. Even Though Kilkishen scored another goal Aileen Duggan settled nerves by scoring a point from a free to leave the scoreline at the end 2-05 to 3-0 marking a historic day for the club and launching huge celebrations. Mary Dillon put the victory in context when she said that it was the first thing that she had won since an u 12 blitz. This team and management deserve huge praise for putting in a huge effort when every one had written them off at the start of the year. They epitomize a spirit in the club which is admirable but this group of players are special  because they have put in huge effort to make themselves credible and it is a lesson to any team that hard work pays off. The club would like to thank Enda Costello and Enda O Sullivan the management team and Ger Morris Hugh Flannery Greg Browne and Derek Lillis for their help also.
