North Tipperary Schoolchildren’s Football League

North Tipperary are making their fourth visit to and take part next week in both the U13 elite boys and u13 boys section at the Salthill Devon organised, Umbro- sponsored Galway Cup.

In the u13 elite boys group, North Tipperary  will face opposition from Kildare, Salthill Devon and North East Counties with games scheduled  -v- Kildare, Wednesday 3 August at 1pm, – v- Salthill Devon, Thursday 4 August at 11.50am and – v- North East Counties, Thursday 5 August at 7.05pm.

The u13 club boys schedule of group games is – v- Cabinteely, Wednesday 3 August at 11.50am and -v- Roscommon Tigers, Wednesday 3 August at 7.05pm.

This team especially may find the competition tough as some boys may be playing against opposition one year older but the experience will stand to them going forward.

With a plate silverware win last year at this event and with the recent SFAI U12 Cashin cup All-Ireland win to build upon the North Tipperary boys start as one of the favourites in the u13 elite boys section in the minds of many.

Various bowl, plate and cup silverware will be played for at the event   (which is now in its seventh year) at different ages; the semi-finals take place on Friday 4 August while the finals will be on Saturday 5 August at various times.

The u15 elite boys section will again prove to be one of the most eagerly awaited for as holders, Aberdeen, FAI Emerging Talent, Glasgow Celtic, Israel’s Maccabi Haifa and Norway’s Valerenga are confirmed to take part.

In previous years academies from Leeds Utd, Fulham, Ipswich Town and Leicester City have taken part – well known players of note to have taken part are Conor Wickam and Greg Cunningham.

News of North Tipperary’s progress and results will be available on www.ntsl.league.ie.

Best wishes are extended to the North Tipperary teams and their coaches for the event.

Other recent NTSFL events included the AGM, held on Wednesday 20th  July while a special presentation evening was held for players of the u12 and u13 emerging talent squads and their parents on Monday 11th July which was attended by Martin 0’Hanlon, SFAI General Secretary, Michael Lowry Chairperson NT CC, Seamus Morris NT CC and Gerry Fitzgibbon O’Neills Sportswear.
