Nenagh Eire Og Camogie Club Notes

U 14s The under 14s qualified for the county final with a hard fought victory against Moneygall last Wednesday in the Ragg.  The first half was a very keenly contested game with Moneygall dominant in the first quarter. In fact Moneygall opened the scoring with a well taken point. Nenagh were finding it hard to get scores but Michelle Collins and Aislinn O Brien in mid field began to take control of mid field in the second quarter and they never relinquished that control. Michelle Collins score the eqaulising point for Nenagh and soon after Sarah O Connor gave Nenagh the lead with a great point on the turn. The half time score was 2 to 1 to Nenagh. The second half saw Nenagh take control through Rachel Maher who gave a masterful display from Centre back who chipped in with two long range points. Nenagh now had control of mid field and the half back line and launched ball after ball into the forwards which were turned into scores by Elaine Slattery 1-1 Michelle Collins 0-2 Mairead Sheridan 0-1 to make the final scoreline 1-8 to 0-1. The scoreling may have been a little flattering for this hardworking Nenagh Team but Money gall through to their great Camogie Tradition fought for every ball right until the end. Nenagh now play Kilruane in the final with Kliruane strong favorites for the title. Junior b team played two games in the last week. The first being a challenge game against Borrisoleigh in Nenagh last Wednesday. Borrisoleigh won by 3 points in a great preparation game for Nenagh before their semi final game against the Silvermines. Thank you to Borrisoleigh for the game and to Christy McLoughlin for giving up his time to referee the contest. On Sunday we played our first semi final at this level against a very Experience Silvermines outfit in the Ragg. The team put up a great performance and keft everything on the pitch. Unfortunately Silvermines came out on to with a 4-05 to 0-05 scoreline. The scoreline certainly didn’t reflect the huge effort put into the game from this very young squad and it augers well for the club to have a team of such great commitment against such huge odds. They still have plenty to play for this season with the Munster league and Championship to look forward to. Tipperary u 16s won the All Ireland final last weekend against Kilkenny in an epic battle in the Gaelic Grounds winning in the end by the merest of margins by 1 point. Two of our players had the distinction of winning the clubs first inter county medals Alanna Morris and Aileen Duggan  and we are very proud of them. It is hoped that these two medals are the first of many for the club . We would like to thank Timmy Maher and his mentors for their dedication to the Tipperary cause.
