Moycarkey Coolcroo A.C. News 18th April

A number of Club athletes travelled to Leevale Open Sports in CIT, Cork on Saturday last with great success winning 19 trophies on the day. This Open Sports is a highly competitive fixture in the Munster athletics calendar attracting top athletes from Munster & Leinster. In the Boys U/10 Ball Throw, Kyle Shelly threw very well to win bronze with Adam O’Dwyer in 4th place. In the Boys U/9 60m Dillon Ryan won bronze while his brother Jack won silver in the Boys U/11 80m & Long Jump. Their older brothers Daniel & David won 4 silver & 4 bronze between them with David winning silver in the Boys U/12 80m, & 60mH & bronze in the Boys U/12 600m & High Jump & Boys U/13 Long Jump & Daniel winning  silver in the Boys U/13 60mH & Long Jump & bronze in the 80m. Jack Fallon won gold in the Boys U/12 600m & joint silver in the High Jump at 1.20m. Moycarkey Boys U/13 also won bronze in the Relay with their team of Daniel Ryan, David Ryan, Jack Fallon, James Dillon, Rhys Shelly & Ben O’ Dwyer. Other athletes who performed very well in their events were Alex Tully, Boys U/8, Tasha Tully & Clodagh Fallon, Girls U/11, Emma Shelly & Anna Ryan Girls U/10, Adam O’Dwyer, Boys U/10, Ben O’ Dwyer, James Dillon & Rhys Shelly, Boys U/12. Our youngest competitors of the day, Ronan & Dale O’ Dwyer (aged 4 & 1 years) were very impressive in the Tiny Tots race with both finishing their races very well & definitely earning their medals. Two athletes to watch out for in the future.

The Club hosted the County Senior Road Championships on Sunday last, 17th April with great success. Our thanks to all who helped out on the day & to our ladies who provided wonderful catering for the hungry athletes afterwards. Well done to Ellen Mc Cormack who competed for the Club in the Ladies 5km Road Race & to David Ryan who took part in the Men’s 10km race.

Our Parish Family Sports Day takes place on Easter Monday, 25th April at 1pm in Littleton GAA Field. Events will range from Tiny Tots & Children with Special Needs to U/16. All parish children are welcome to come for a fun day of athletics.

Our thanks to everyone who helped out at the Moycarkey Borris Community Games Church Gate Collection last weekend & to everyone who contributed so generously. All proceeds go toward developing new & existing Community Games activities in the parish for our children.

Training for the Outdoor Season continues every Monday evening from 7.45pm to 8.45pm & every Thursday evening from 7.30pm to 8.30pm in Templemore Track. Cost is €2.00 per athlete. New members & help are always welcome.
