‘ROCK ON THE SUIR’ will take place at The Wicklow Gardens, North Quay in Carrick-on-Suir on Saturday, June 4 from 4pm. The Concert headline acts include Mundy and Paddy Casey and are supported by, El Hombre Jokes, Chimpanbee and Amber Jean.

Mundy hit the Irish music scene with his first album in 1996 and has gone on to achieve international fame. He is releasing his brand new album ‘Shuffle’ in mid May; the fifth album has been recorded over the last year at various bunkers, this is Mundy’s love song to his favourite American songwriters. Commenting on the upcoming album Mundy Said, “This record was a pleasure to make and I wanna thanks all of the great writers of these songs for inspiring me, leading me and guiding me in my career through darkness and light.”

Irish singer-songwriter Paddy Casey from Dublin was discovered by Sony while performing at a bar. He released his first album Amen (So Be It) in 1999, Paddy received nominations for Best Irish Songwriter and Best Male Singer at the Hot Press Awards. Hot Press readers themselves voted the album Best Debut Album, as well as voting Paddy the year’s Most Promising Act and nominating him in seven other end of the year categories. Touring saw Casey providing support to artists like R.E.M.Ian BrownAni Di Franco and The Pretenders. Casey returned in 2003 with the multi-platinum album, Living. Paddy also supported U2 on their Vertigo tour. Paddy recorded his third studio album in Hollywood. Titled Addicted To Company (Part One), it was released in Ireland on September 7, 2007

‘ROCK ON THE SUIR’ is part of the programme for the fourth annual Clancy Brothers Music and Arts Festival 2011 in Carrick-On-Suir, Co. Tipperary which will take place in the riverside town from June 2 to 5. Continuing on the international music acts at the festival’s musical programme will close with an intimate evening concert with Paul Brady at The Strand Theatre at 8pm on Sunday, June 5.

Opening the festival on Thursday, June 2 is Mary Clancy; Mary will host an evening concert at The Brewery Lane Theatre at 8pm entitled “from Carnegie to Carrick with the Clancy Brothers” including a ‘Friends of Brewery Lane Variety Concert’.

The festival programme features a variety of Music Concerts, Workshops, Drama, Free Family Fun, Lunchtime Theatre, Sporting Events and an Art Trail for all ages and tastes. The Art Trail featuring over 100 artists, students and photographers commences on Friday, June 3 at venues throughout the town culminating in an exclusive exhibition ‘River Suir Inspired’ at Ormonde Castle in Carrick-on-Suir; the trail and exhibition will run throughout the festival weekend until June 6.

On Saturday, June 4 a Children’s Parade will precede a free family fun afternoon which will take place at Kickham Street with Face Painting, Stilt Walkers, Street Entertainers, Art workshops, Music and Dancing all on the bill.

On Sunday, June 5 the hometown of the world famous cyclist Sean Kelly sees the ‘Carrick Wheelers Challenge Sportive’ take place followed by  ‘Free Family Fun Sunday’ an action packed ‘Family Fun and River Festival’ taking place at Sean Healy Park in Carrick-on-Suir from 2pm.

    Anyone know if Rock on the Suir will be on again next year? Also which bank holiday days it’ll be on? Think there are a few in June as on the listings http://www.ukbankholidays2012.com/ Guess it’s too far in advance but any ideas who’ll be playing?
