Important Hip Recall Conference For DePuy Patients at the Horse and Jockey Hotel

–  Opportunity for Patients to Hear Up To Date Situation from Medical and Legal Experts

A major conference on the DePuy Hip Implant Recall will take place in Horse and Jockey Hotel Conference Centre on Saturday 19 March 2011.  Organised by leading Tipperary law firm, Lynch and Partners Solicitors, it is an opportunity for those affected by the DePuy Hip Recall to receive the most up to date information from a panel of medical and legal experts, including Canadian lawyers who have commenced a class action against DePuy on behalf of patients in Canada.

According to the HSE, 3,516 Irish patients received the DePuy ASR AX acetabular hip implant system since 2004.  A high percentage of affected patients are in the South, South East and South West.  Following a recall in August 2010 by DePuy Orthopaedic Inc, a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson, it was initially thought that over 400 people in Ireland will need revision surgery with an additional 1,700 requiring further treatment.  However, new figures released at the British Hip Society Annual Conference at the beginning of March indicate a likely failure rate of 49% in six years.  Therefore, it is possible that over 1,700 people across Ireland will need revision surgery over the next number of years.

Recall appointments with the HSE were due to take place in January 2011.  DePuy patients who are adversely affected are currently undergoing x-rays, MRI scans and blood tests to determine what further action, if any, is required.

Anyone affected by the DePuy hip implant recall is invited to attend this free conference at the Horse and Jockey Hotel Conference Centre, Co Tipperary.  To confirm attendance, contact 052 6124344 or

  1. Evidently, DePuy failed to adequately test its products for safety and durability resulting in poorly designed hip replacements. Recipients of these defective devices should speak with a product liability attorney and discuss legal options they could take. The DePuy hip replacement recall information center is filled with updates regarding the current lawsuits filed against the company.

  2. I hope that the said conference has done something significant to the majority of patients.
