On February 15th last, the county boccia finals took place in Holycross GAA Club. The impressive new facilities at the club lent themselves very well to the travelling players and supporters from across the county.

In Division One, players travelled from Roscrea, Cashel, Tippperary Town, Clonmel and Fethard to battle it out for a place in the final. IWA, Roscrea and IWA, South Tipperary reached the finals with the South Tipperary outfit coming away with the spoils in the end. That was gold and the county boccia trophy travelling to Clonmel for the year. Last year’s winners Roscrea settling for silver and Moorehaven of Tipperary Town in third place and took home the bronze medals. In Division Two, the hotly contested final was between old rivals Ormond Resources from Nenagh and Anam Cara/Damer of Roscrea. The cup had resided in Roscrea for the past year but their reign as champions was to come to an end. The sharp shooters from Ormond Resources were on top form and it was to be their day. The Division Two county trophy was brought back to Nenagh.

The boccia league runs throughout the year in Tipperary. It is organised by the North and South Tipperary Sports Partnerships through the Sports Inclusion Disability Officer, Kathleen Finn. New players are always welcome. Please contact Kathleen on 067-43604 or 062-64783.
