St. Patrick's Day

Thurles St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The parade will be held on the Sunday after St. Patrick’s Day i.e. Sunday 20th March 2011 commencing at 2.45 pm.  The parade aims to attract an American Marching Band that might already be over here in Ireland taking part in some of the city parades which are being held on the 17th March.  If you are interested in taking part in the parade contact Tom Gleeson at or visit the website here.

Templemore St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Templemore St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Thursday 17th March.

Roscrea St. Patrick’s Day Parade

This year’s St.Patrick’s Day parade will take place on Thursday 17th March.

The people of Roscrea and surrounding districts will be lining the streets of Roscrea on Thursday, March 17th anxiously awaiting the town’s 33rd successive Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  The Parade will commence at 3p.m. and will kick off from the old Dublin Road, through the town’s Church and Castle Streets, passing the Review Stand in the town’s square and will then proceed through Main Street.

Businesses are warmly invited to take part in the 2011 parade.

Entry is free

A donation (to help cover insurance costs) is always welcome, cheques should be made payable to the ‘Cashel St. Patrick’s Parade’, receipts will be issued on request.

But we stress, there is NO ENTRY FEE.

Tell Us About Your Business

As your float or vehicles pass the reviewing stand, details about your business will be read out.

These must be with the parade Steward 1week before the parade so he can coordinate the event.

The route (subject to Garda permission) will be as follows:

For Vehicles

Old Dublin to Lady’s Well, to Bank Place, To Friar Street, Across the Green, Down Boher Clough , up Main Street, Vehicles can choose to exit via Friar Street or the Old Dublin Road.

Please DO NOT throw sweets from vehicles as this poses a serious accident risk.

For walking Groups

Bru Boru Car Park, Lady’s Well, Road to Bank Place, To Friar Street, Across the Green, Down Boher Clough , up Main Street, Parade. Disperse by Spearman’s Bakery.

Parking and Road Closures

Road closures will be notified in the week prior to the parade. They are likely to be in force from 12:30 until 4:00pm. Air Cash services will not be altered.

Please DO NOT park in front of the Bank of Ireland after 6pm on Wednesday march 16th as this space is allocated to the reviewing stand.

Please not park on the Main Street on Thursday March 17th, as this is a serious accident risk, especially for young children.

There could be over 3000 people Main Street on the day, drivers who park cars there do so at their own risk.

Shop Window Display

Every year the retail sector produces a number of imaginative and patriotic shop displays for the St. Patrick’s Week. We encourage all retailers to enter this year. Again there is no entry fee to enter this competition. Cash prizes will be awarded by a panel of independent judges.

Business Collection

There will be business collection to help with Parade Fund Raising as the annual cost of the Parade is over €6000 . This comes from voluntary collections and sponsorship.

Town Collection

The parade has been allocated two days to collect money in the town of Cashel this year, they are Friday 18th and Saturday 19th of February. Garda permits are for street collection only. Collectors will not operate in shops or businesses.

On average over 90% of the money collected is spent in Cashel
