Templemore Town Council Briefs Military Reception

A CIVIC reception for the Southern Command Executive of the National Serviceman’s Association, was proposed by Cllr Jim O’Shea.  Cllr O’Shea said February 19th would be a suitable date as the ex-serviceman would be visiting Templemore.  Continuing the military theme, the Town Council will soon take into possession a number of canons and heavy ordnance from the Army.  Town Clerk Tom McGrath said the town is in line to get two Howitzer guns from the Department of Defence.  These will be used as street furniture.  One dates from WWI and one from WWII, said Cllr Martin Fogarty.
