THURLES SARSFIELDS IN MUNSTER CLUB HURLING FINAL

Hard luck to Thurles Sarsfields whose season came to a disappointing end at frosty Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Sunday last when they were defeated in the AIB Munster Club Senior Hurling Final by De La Salle of Waterford by 0-9 to 0-8.  The last Munster club final without a goal was in 2002 when another Waterford team, Mount Sion were the winners defeating Sixmilebridge of Clare by 0-12 to 0-10. John Keane formerly of Borris-Ileigh played at full forward for De La Salle and scored 2 points.

NENAGH ÉIRE ÓG IN MUNSTER JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Hard luck to Nenagh Éire Óg on their defeat by St. Mary’s Caherciveen in the AIB Munster Club Junior Football semi-final on Sunday last at Con Keating Park, Caherciveen.

GOOD LUCK TO DEREK O’MAHONY

Good luck to Derek O’Mahony of Ardfinnan who will referee the AIB Munster Club Championship final between Dr. Crokes of Kerry and Nemo Rangers of Cork at at  Pairc na nGael, Limerick at 2pm on Sunday next, December 5.

GALTEE ROVERS – ST. PECAUN’S CLUB HISTORY LAUNCH

Galtee Rovers – St. Pecaun’s Club History will be launched this Saturday night, December 4 by GAA President, Christy Cooney. The Launch will take place in the McGrath Centre, Bansha, at 6 p.m.. Refreshments will be served and everybody is welcome. Congratulations to all involved with producing the club history.

TIPPERARY CLUBS DRAW

The December Tipperary GAA Clubs monthly draw will be hosted by Fr Sheehy’s GAA Club and will be  held in Mulcahy’s Bar, Burncourt on this Friday December 3. On the night we will be presenting Josephine O Sullivan with a cheque for €15,000 which she won in the November draw and €500 to the promoter James Mulcahy. We will also be presenting €12,000 to William Connolly (Fethard GAA) who won second prize in the November draw along with €400 to promoter Denis Burke. In addition we will be giving away 2 new cars along with numerous cash prizes and holidays. We will also raffle a beautiful Christmas Hamper on the night. Come along and enjoy the music and craic on the night and support Fr Sheehy’s in celebrating their big win.

FRIENDS OF TIPP FOOTBALL LAUNCH 2011 CALENDAR

Friends of Tipperary Football are pleased to announce the Launch of the Official Tipperary GAA Calendar 2011. This Calendar is complimentary with membership of the Friends Of Tipperary Football. Members will also be included in a draw for €5,000 in prize money.   Membership is €20 for the year 2011. The Launch takes place in the Thatch Bar and Restaurant, Ballycommon, Nenagh on Monday, December 6 at 8pm .All are welcome to attend. The Calendar includes team photos of Tipperary Teams from underage to Senior in both Hurling and Football which represented the blue and gold in 2010. The calendar will go on sale throughout the county and your support would be much appreciated.  The Friends of Tipperary Football actively support all county football teams and initiatives from underage to senior in conjunction with the Tipperary Football Board and the Tipperary County Board. The Friends of Tipperary Football thank all clubs and supporters for their ongoing support  and look forward to continued support for their activities which are no doubt paying dividends with the success of all Tipperary football teams in recent times.

COLLEGES GAMES

Cashel CS will play Rochestown College in the Corn Phadraig, Munster Colleges Senior Hurling B at Ballygiblin at 2.30pm on Wednesday, December 1. Cashel must win to qualify for the quarter finals. On Thursday December 2, in the Corn Ui Mhuiri, Munster Colleges Senior Football A, Clonmel CBS will play St. Flannan’s College Ennis at Tipperary at 2.30pm. Again Clonmel must win to qualify for the quarter finals.  In Tipperary Colleges games, the Hennessy Cup U-15 Hurling B final between CashelCS and St. Joseph’s College, Borrisoleigh will be played at Dr. Morris Park, Thurles on Thursday December 2 at 1.30pm. Also on Thursday Our Lady’s Templmore will play Abbey CBS, Tipperary Town at the Garda Grounds in Templemore in the semi-final of the MacGabhann Cup, Senior Football A. Finally on Friday, December 3, the Croke Cup U-15 Hurling A final between Thurles CBS and Clonmel CBS will be played at Cahir at 2.30pm.

REMINDER RE CONVENTION DATES

The annual Tipperary County Convention will take place at the Dome, Semple Stadium on Monday December 20. Other convention dates are North Board – Tuesday December 7; West Board – Wednesday December 8; Mid Board – Friday December 10, South – Sunday December 12; Co Bord na nÓg – Tuesday December 14; Bord Peil: Thursday December 16.

MID TIPPERARY SCOR FINAL

The results of Mid final in Loughmore on Saturday November 27 were: Rince Foirne –  J.K. Brackens; Amhranaiocht Aonair – 1. Upperchurch/Drombane Margaret Gleeson, 2. Moycarkey/Borris Padraig Dwyer; Ceol Uirlise – 1. Loughmore/Castleiney, 2 J.K.Brackens;  Aithriseoireacht – 1. Upperchurch/Drombane Ruth Atkins,  2. J.K.Brackens – Aoife Fogarty. Bailead Ghrupa – 1. Upperchurch/Drombane, 2. J.K. Brackens; Nuachleas – 1. Moycarkey/Borris, 2. Loughmore/Castleiney; Trath na gCeisteanna – 1. Loughmore/Castleiney, 2. Moyne/Templetuohy; Rince Seit 1. Drom/Inch 2. J.K. Brackens. Well done to all who won and all who participated. The County Final will be held in Halla na Feile, Cashel on Friday December 10 at 7.30pm.

RCTLC SPORTS AWARDS

Roscrea Community Tourism Leisure Co-operative Society have announced their 13th Annual Sports Stars Award recipients for 2010. The awards list is headed by Hall of Fame winner, legendary Tipperary hurler of the 1970’s, Francis Loughnane.  Francis and the other recipients will be presented with their award at the 13th Annual Sports Awards Presentation Dinner to be held in Racket Hall Hotel on Friday, February 4 next. Other GAA award recipients are Seamus Hennessy (Kilruane MacDonaghs) for hurling; George Hannigan (Shannon Rovers) for football and Ken Hogan for his contribution to sport.  Tickets for the Presentation Dinner are now available from Marie Tooher at the Roscrea Abbey Community Centre office (Abbey Hall) – Phone 0505 23183.

NEW TEXT MESSAGE PRICES FOR CLUBS

The GAA has negotiated a new text message price for Clubs through the Online Registration and Club Membership Management system (http://people.gaa.ie/admin). Each Club already has a username and password. Messages are available in bundles at a cost of 2 cent per message. To purchase and to use, go to the Communication section of the site and click on the ‘buy SMS’ label.  Contact County IT Officer Ed Donnelly (itofficer.tipperary@gaa.ie or 087-2055642) if you have any questions.

CLUB WEB SITES

The GAA has a new official club web site solution which is available to all GAA clubs. The new Club web site platform is deployed on Google Sites. The old GAA web site platform which is being used by 37 Tipperary clubs will cease to operate after December 20th. As a result, it’s important that these clubs migrate their important content in advance. Clubs can request a new web site online by visiting http://newmail.gaa.ie and clicking on the link Club and County Web Site Migration.
