Fine Girl Ye Are! The Clancy Brothers remembered at The Source

It’s going to be a night of foot stamping nostalgia this Thursday night at The Source Arts Centre, when the memory of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem will be invoked for the show Fine Girl Ye Are! All your favourites are guaranteed as the story of Ireland’s first international superstars unfolds.

Hailing from Carrick on Suir Co. Tipperary, The Clancy Brothers and Armagh man Tommy Makem took the world by storm with their rousing renditions of Irish songs such as Brennan on the Moor, The Irish Rover and The Holy Ground. They were instrumental in building the foundations for the folk revival of the 1960’s and were acknowledged by Bob Dylan as one of his greatest influences.

Last year marked the passing of Liam Clancy, the last surviving member of the group and a man who graced the stage of The Source Arts Centre on more than one occasion. It is wonderful to see their great songs and performance style being kept alive for future generations.

Fine Girls Ye Are! is performed by one of Ireland’s most popular singing groups, The Kilkennys and promises to be a night to remember. For those of us lucky enough to have seen the real Clancy Brothers it is a chance to bring back some great memories. For those of us who didn’t it should give plenty of fuel to stir the imagination.

Fine Girl Ye Are! is at The Source Arts Centre on Thursday 7th October at 8pm.

Tickets €18/€16 concession.
