Kay Troy receives her award for best front garden from Cloughjordan Tidy Towns chairperson Niall Healy

On Thursday, 30 September, Cloughjordan Tidy Towns Committee (CTTC) presented the local award for this year’s local Tidy  Towns competition in Grace’s Bar on Lower Main Street. While judging took place in July, the CTTC held the award ceremony in September so they could announce the national competition results at the  ceremony. Cloughjordan’s marks were up slightly on previous years, and the judge praised teh approaches to Cloughjordan in particular.
Niall Healy, Cloughjordan Tidy Towns chairperson and Nenagh native, welcomed the 25 attendees to the awards presentation and thanked the previous Tidy Towns chairperson, Helen Costello, for all her hard work and the good example she set over so many years. He then proceeded to  announce the winners, who received a gift certificate from Garden Essentials or Lakeview Gardening and a bag of bulbs.
Winners were as follows:
.       Best estate: MacDonagh Avenue
.       Best window boxes: Baba MacDonald, Main Street
.       Best hanging baskets: Carmel Daly, the Step Road
.       Best business premises: The Gourmet Gallery, Lower Main Street
.       Best front garden: Eddie and Kay Troy, Step Road
.       Overall winner of the Mary Byrnes Lillis Memorial Perpetual Shiled
for the best street house: Baba MacDonald, Main Street.
