Dear Frankie is set to be this season’s hit at The Source

dear-frankie-at-the-sourceDear Frankie, a play about Ireland’s most famous radio agony aunt, looks set to become the real hot ticket of this season at The Source. The show is on for one night only on Saturday 23rd October and tickets are moving fast.

Any one of a certain age will remember Frankie Byrne and her smouldering voice on lunchtime radio, as she dispensed her own special brand of advice to the lovelorn teenagers, jealous husbands and concerned mammies of Ireland. Often skating a fine line between the censors and her wish to help people, Frankie was a familiar presence in the lives of all the people of Ireland. Although Frankie was great at solving the woes of others, her own life was far from being the ideal existence that most people would imagine. For most of her life Frankie hid a deep sadness and she had her own demons to contend with.

Dear Frankie is funny and moving as it shows both faces of the radio personality we all thought we knew. Nuala Hayes is wonderful in the title role and heads up the three strong cast brilliantly. So, if you want a nostalgic look at the personality behind one of the most familiar voices on Irish radio, why not check out Dear Frankie.

Dear Frankie is at The Source Arts Centre on Saturday 23rd October at 8pm.
