The Mater Foundation, the fundraising body of The Mater Hospital, launched the ‘Raise a Million for The Mater’ Appeal in September 2010 in an effort to actively encourage fundraising across Ireland to raise money for patient services within the Mater Hospital.

On behalf of everyone at the Mater Foundation we would like to thank all the people in County Tipperary who both bought and sold raffle tickets in aid of the appeal. Fundraisers were asked to sell two books of raffle tickets at a cost of €3 each. The closing date for the raffle was Wednesday 29th September and winners were chosen on Wednesday 6th October. In light of this we are especially happy to announce that the second prize winner hailed from Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

The Mater Hospital urgently needs many items across an array of departments. Donations from the ‘Raise a Million for The Mater’ Appeal will help fund for example; electronic beds in the cancer ward, machines for the Cardiac Unit, equipment for the physiotherapy department as well as enabling the sourcing of palliative and radiotherapy innovations by the Radiotherapy Department via grant aid.
