September at The Source – Thurles

20-aug-10-photo-1-post-september-at-the-source-thurlesThat time of the year is quickly approaching when the kids are going back to school and we put away our summer activities, and start to think of long evenings and what we are going to do with ourselves for the winter months. Why not start as you mean to go on with a visit to your local arts centre. The Source has a line-up of events for September that would turn arts centres in bigger cities green with envy.

If music is your thing, thing there is a blistering trad session with The Living Stream. This Music Network tour is on the heals of one of the most talked about trad albums to come out this year, “The Living Stream” featuring Jackie Daly on button accordion and Matt Cranitch on fiddle. They are joined on tour by John Faulkner on guitar, bouzouki and voice for what promises to be a night of toe tapping tunes and wonderful songs.

The Source is hugely privileged to welcome back the Keegan Theatre Company all the way from the USA. Since the arts centre opened they have made an annual visit to Thurles and 2010 is no exception. They are bringing their production of Sam Shepard’s dysfunctional love story, “Fool for Love” to the stage, with all the bitterness and desperation that only true love can bring out in us.

20-aug-10-photo-2-post-september-at-the-source-thurlesIf you fancy a real laugh and a good light hearted night out, why not put yourself in the hands of Adrian Knight. Adrian is one of the most critically acclaimed comedy hypnotists in Ireland today. During his show, he can turn audience members into pop stars, film actors and ballet stars. If celebrity isn’t your thing, he can also make people believe they are chickens, goldfish or Martians. So why not check him out for the laugh, or even get involved, if you are brave enough.

The show they are all talking about, Little Gem, is coming to town. This uplifting theatre production has been packing them in at The Gaiety recently and now it’s Thurles’ turn to stage this hit show about three different generations of women, their lives loves and those little itches that you just can’t scratch.

Tickets for all these events are available from the Box Office on 0504 90204 or log on to www.thesourceartscentre.ie
