It was another incident packed week in the life of a growing Camogie Club. If one was to measure success on winning and losing championships it was a bad week with the u 14s losing the county final to a very strong Thurles side on Monday night. But then there was the two fantastic victories by the thoroughly dedicated Junior B team over Portroe and Patrickswell during the week ending a run of losses for our most senior team( with mostly u 16s a peppered with ladies that have just recently picked up the Hurley after some time away from the game) and it also showed that a team that has endured losses has dug in and stayed focused on perfecting their skills which are now paying off and will continue to pay off. This is of course a lesson to us all that success in a club is about bringing all players along together and at the same time showing them the art of enjoying themselves collectively along the way. Another sign of the clubs growth was shown on a field with girls wearing a totally different shirt. The St Marys Secondary school Junior team under the expert guidance of Gerry Dullea won the plate final against Coláiste Chroist Rí in Charelville with a scoreline of 4-11 to 3-4. This team was captained by our own Ciara McGrath and in total Nenagh Eire Og Camogie club had 11 players on the panel ( See Photgraph) A number of years ago there was no Nenagh Eire Og club to provide players to the convent now hopefully we will have continuous presence.

The u 12s play their Final on Thursday night in the Ragg against a strong St Cronins Team we would appreciate as much support as possible for this dedicated bunch of girls.

The u 14s lost their final to a brilliant Thurles side last Monday night 4-4 to 1-1. The Thurles girls were worthy of their victory on the Night and it took resolute defending by the Nenagh Eire Og defense to keep the score line down to that level. It was a disappointment for the team on the night but we have to remember that Thurles were A grade while Nenagh came up from C grade so we have a small bit to go to bridge the gap but we wont stop until we are at that level. The club would like to thank the County board who have done a wonderful job with the fixtures this season and it is important that we acknowledge this. We would also like to thank the officials on the night and most importantly the huge support who traveled over to the game to offer their support. Of course we mustn’t forget the club officials and members who helped out with the food and drink afterwards in the complex.

The Junior Bs beat Portroe 5-4 to 4-3 and Patrickswell 0-6 To 1-0 during the week. The team have to be congratulated for their dedication to their team and all the hard work under Enda Costello and Enda O Sullivan. They now have a nice balanced team and a Goalkeeper Cora Collins who doesn’t bother with stopping and controlling the sliotar she just doubles on everything and skillfully clears back down the field without too much fuss. Well done to all
