Farmers must make their Single Farm Payment application by next Monday, May 17th

IFA Deputy President Eddie Downey has said all farmers must make their Single Farm Payment application by next Monday, May 17th.

He said the SFP application is vital to ensure that up to 130,000 farmers get paid their Single Farm Payment later in the year.

In addition, the SFP application also ensures qualification for other important schemes where relevant including the Disadvantaged Areas Scheme, REPS, the Agri-Environment Options Scheme, the Sheep Grassland payment, the Burren Life Scheme, the Suckler Cow Welfare Scheme, the bio-energy payment and other schemes.

Mr. Downey has urged the Department of Agriculture to keep their local offices open until midnight on Monday next to ensure that all applications are received.  In the case of the AEOS, applications can be lodged in the local offices next Monday.

The IFA Deputy President said that farmers have until the 31st May to make any amendments to their SFP applications.
