Tipperary Vintage Rally celebrated another successful event with  €20,133 being raised for The South Tipperary Hospice movement over the Easter weekend. A cheque will be presented to the Hospice on May 1st at Vaughan’s Bar Tipperary, where all are welcome to help celebrate the achievement.
Although numbers were slightly down on last year there is little doubt that the recession had not diminished the generosity of those attending and the organisers are tremendously grateful to those that made the event such a success. Eddie Spencer, who is one the stalwarts behind the day pointed out that the preceding wet week and the poor forecast did little to draw people out and about on the Sunday even though it stayed dry for the duration of the show whilst the man behind the Honda 50 run (photos) and much else besides, Jack Leonard, happily points to the warm reception given to the bikes as they passed along the route.

Two others who worked tirelessly behind the scenes Steve Thornton and Seamus Clarke were particularly grateful to the exhibitors and traders who came from all over Ireland and the sponsors from the local area who contributed so magnificently to the enterprise. The gift of a Zanussi washing machine and Colour TV from O’Connor Bros and Jack Leonard for the raffle was especially noteworthy as was the donation of prizes for the dog show by Tipp town based Arra Veterinary Clinic and Burns Pet Nutrition of Limerick. There were also many others who put a great deal of effort into the day and appreciation is extended to the friends and families of the organisers who gave up their time to help.
Although the actual day has passed there is still the opportunity to enter the photography competition for pictures taken of the show itself or the Honda 50 Run on the Saturday. The first prize is an Olympus digital compact camera donated by Kissanes Pharmacy whilst the runner up will receive a free portrait session with Justinseye photography. The Nationalist has also kindly agreed to publish the winning picture so you may yet see your photo in print! Details of entry and photographs of the rally itself can be found on the rally website – www.tipprally.com. Planning for Easter 2011 has already commenced and the website will also be carrying information and news on next years rally as it happens.
