The Deans Return to Rock The Source

the-deansThe tension is building in the air as one of Ireland’s most talked about bands are coming back to Thurles for a very special gig this Friday. The Deans are playing The Source Arts Centre on Friday 30th April at 8pm. Since they exploded on the scene three years ago, The Deans have been building a reputation as an energetic power trio. Their sound is rooted in the blues rock of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s with the same raw passion of the classic bands of that era. Famed for the energy of their live shows, The Deans have been flying the flag for Ireland on the European touring circuit. Last year they had two tours of the continent, one of which was a 35 date stint covering 7 countries.

Following the release of their latest CD, Distraction, things have gone from good to great. Their sound has matured and is settling into it’s own groove. No longer are they just being compared to some of the great names in rock. They are beginning to be seen as a great band in their own right. During their career they have recorded with Woodstock veteran Henry McCullough (Joe Cocker, Paul McCartney’s Wings), Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy) and Johnny Fean (Horslips). They have played at festivals and venues all over Europe and have appeared at the Montreaux Jazz Festival. This summer sees the Galway trio embark on their first Scandinavian tour.  With a new interest in the classic retro sound, thanks to bands such as Kings of Lyon and Muse and a record deal on the cards with Paolo Nutini’s label, everything is coming up roses for this young Irish band.

The Deans are at The Source Arts Centre on Friday 30th April at 8pm. Tickets €18 / €12 concession.
