Rathcabbin Players present cheque for Haiti
Rathcabbin Players chairman Des Clancy presents a cheque to Sr’s. Máire and Margaret of the L.S.U. order Banagher for use by Sr. Helen Ryder in Haiti. Also in the photo is Willie Reddin (Treasurer), Conor Clancy (Treasurer), Jared Madden (Director), Eamonn Smyth (Treasurer). Rathcabbin Players ended their nine night run with “Rumors” by staging a charity night which raised €2000 for the victims of the recent Haiti disaster.
Sr. Helen Ryder, a native of Banagher, has worked in Haiti for over 20 years. She works on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, and is a member of the La Sainte Union order of nuns. Her work includes cooperating with Irish Charities and business people interested in aiding and funding several projects that help the disadvantaged. At present, Sr. Helen and her helpers are sleeping out in the open as their house was damaged in the earthquake and while they work in the building by day, they are fearful of sleeping in it by night.
The LSU sisters in Banagher will gladly accept any donations for the people of Haiti and they will be sent directly to Sr Helen Ryder. Please send donations to Sr. Margaret, LSU Sisters, Debrabant House, Cuba Avenue, Banagher, Co Offaly or call (057)9151319.
